- Never wait to eat until you are starving
- Drink a glass of water before you eat
- stay hydrated, sometimes you may just be hungry
- If you eat at home, fill your plate once and put the leftovers away immediately
- If you are in a restaurant, have them pack up half of your portion right away or order one dish with two people and share it
- Take a bite, put knife and fork down and take the time to taste and enjoy the food
- Try to chew slowly
- plan your menu ahead for the week, prepare healthy snacks so you are not drawn to junk food
- Try to have fun with eating- stick to healthy choices and make sure you have variety
- Eat often- about every 2.5- 3 hours
- Remember, it is simple : energy intake has to be lower than output if you want to drop weight.
- Don't deprive yourself of foods you love- but if you know they are not the best choice, make sure your portion sizes are very small
